The Construction of the Evolution is a project I started to work with young people and bring light to social, political, and educational issues. We are in the beginning stages of this journey, but there will be more extensive additions in the future. It is our full intention to empower young people to voice their opinions and help develop change in cities across the globe. We will also begin to work with governments to reform policy that adversely affects the interests of their residents.

CIA Drones: HALT says the United Nations

According to an article in the New York Times on May 27, 2010, the United Nations is set to ask the Obama administration to stop drone strikes of suspected terrorist. The article by Charlie Salvage goes on to say, “a report {is expected} on June 3 to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva declaring that the “life and death power” of drones should be entrusted to regular armed forces, not intelligence agencies.” This would be a huge problem for the Obama administration and future Presidents due to the growing investments the government has made in the drone program. It seems to be conceivable that the United States government has made plans to enhance the drone program for military and intelligence purposes. Due to the fact the program is ran under the C.I.A. they would be reluctant to answer any questions about the drones. If this program is proven to have broken any laws, the United Nations could ask for the program to be suspended. Thus, this will be crippling to the United States recent progress in fighting terrorist in non-war countries.

Obama Health Care Reform

For months now we have heard several stories about the terrible state of our health care system. And for even longer we heard claims of death panels and a government takeover of health care. Although these claims were outlandish they still gained ground in the republican electorate. Of course, many republican elected officials were quick to push these claims because of their constant fear based political ideology.

Democrats on the other hand have had overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate for almost a year. Due to a lack of leadership by the President no major piece of legislation was passed and the poll numbers began to show the displeasure of the American people.

The good news is the ‘Obamacare’ as many people like to call was passed by the House on Sunday and is set to be passed tomorrow in the Senate. Although the bill is far from being a comprehensive overhaul of the health care system, it is a step in the right direction. Americans can’t continue to go bankrupt because of 39% increases in their health care cost.

Washington DC Metro Train Crash

The Construction of the Evolution would like to send our thoughts and prayers to everyone who lost their lives in this tragedy.

With aging equipment and a high volume of riders, WMATA experienced its deadliest train crash in its history. As the spotlight begins to look for causes of this crash, many officials are starting to voice their displeasure with the fleet of train cars that the NTSB once recommended be replaced or taken out of the fleet. In an attempt to provide adequate service to its customers WMATA kept the recommended cars to be replaced and provided service to its customers with little increase in the amount of fare charged. For years there was no outrage or an dramatic budget increase for the three jurisdictions Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia nor was there any from the Congress. And as with any other tragedy that takes place the politicizing of the tragedy was quick to take off. For years our culture has been overlooking our crumbling infrastructure, now as it begins to fail around the country we are starting to notice the issues. We must begin to change our mindsets to be proactive and not reactive.

Here we go AGAIN...sigh

Today, the stock market collapsed once again. Seeming to be a daily adventure the New York stock market is teetering on the brink of obscurity. The possible reason for today’s collapse is the expected losses of AIG, a international insurance and financial services provider. The United States of America government will, if not already supply the company with another jolt of money to help stabilize the company. My problem with this is the Obama ran government is placing billions of American tax payer dollars into failed institutions hoping they can recover. But what if they don’t? Will we continue to pay out billions each quarter to stabilize a company? I totally understand the reasoning behind the theory that the government financial brains have about the situation, but at some point we have to let some of these companies fail responsibly. Once they fail and/or file for bankruptcy we could then help restructure the company on a new vision for success. It is mind boggling to me to find that we are paying money with little say-so in the companies that continue to practice the fail policies and tactics that got them into the position that they find themselves in now. Lets for one second think about the future of our nation. Will we continue to be the power of the world if we owe trillions in debt to china? What about the future generation of young people? These issues require much more explaining to the American people than we have had thus far.
